Tuition Rebate

Certain undergraduate students who attempt no more than three hours in excess of the minimum number of semester credit hours required to complete their degrees may be entitled up to a $1,000 tuition rebate after graduation.

This form allows an impending graduate (undergraduate only) to apply for a potential $1,000 tuition rebate awardable upon graduation.

Eligibility
To be eligible for a rebate under this program, you must:

  1. Have been enrolled for the first time in an institution of higher education in Fall 1997 or later.
  2. Be requesting a rebate for work related to your first baccalaureate degree received from this university.
  3. Be a resident of Texas, must have attempted all course work at a Texas public institution of higher education, and have been entitled to pay resident tuition at all times while pursuing the degree.
  4. Have attempted no more than three (3) hours in excess of the minimum number of semester credit hours required to complete the degree under the catalog under which you are graduating. Note: Hours attempted include transfer credits, course credit earned exclusively by examination, courses that are dropped after the official census date, for-credit developmental courses, optional internship and cooperative education courses, and repeated courses. Courses dropped for reasons that are determined by the institution to be totally beyond your control will not be counted.
  5. (For students beginning in Fall 2005 or later) Be graduating in a timely manner. If you want to qualify to receive the rebate, you must graduate within four calendar years for a four-year degree or within five calendar years for a five-year degree if the program is determined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to require more than four years to complete.
  6. Have not yet graduated.

If you wish to qualify for this rebate, know that you are responsible for complying with all rules related to the administration of the program. You are responsible for enrolling only in courses that will qualify you for the rebate. If you transferred from another institution of higher education, you are responsible for providing the University with official transcripts from all institutions attended. You must apply for the tuition rebate using the Request for Tuition Rebate Form (provided above) prior to receiving your baccalaureate degree(s) and keep a current mailing address on file with the University for a specified period following graduation.

The amount of tuition to be rebated to you under this program will be based on state guidelines. If it is determined that you are entitled to a rebate, and you have an outstanding balance owed to the University or to student loans, the University will apply the amount of the rebate to the balances owed. If the amount of the rebate exceeds the amount of the indebtedness, the University will pay you the excess amount.
